COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS
Legislative committees review, amend, and evaluate proposed laws before they reach the full legislature for a vote. They conduct hearings, gather expert testimony, and oversee government agencies within their jurisdiction.

Chairs: Rep. Antonio Cabral, D-13th Bristol and Sen. Nick Collins, D-First Suffolk
● Considers all matters concerning competitive bidding on public contracts, public construction, open meeting laws, state regulations, state agencies, lobbyists’ reporting laws and such other matters as may be referred
Chair: Rep. Kathleen LaNatra, D-12th Plymouth
● Works with the House Ways & Means to analyze federal stimulus allocations and research federal requirements on stimulus spending and compliance matters
● Performs an ongoing review of federal spending, including but not limited to stimulus spending and Community Development Block Grants
● May review current state laws, regulations and policies in order to make recommendations that will allow MA to access additional funding
Chair: Rep. Tram Nguyen, D-18th Essex
● Considers all matters related to the Commonwealth’s climate policy, including but not limited to greenhouse gas emissions, the climate impacts of renewable energy development, and climate change adaptation and mitigation
● Serves in an advisory capacity to other joint committees that consider legislation with significant climate impacts, including but not limited to environment, natural resources and agriculture, transportation, energy, housing and economic development and emerging technologies
